Jewellery trends changing
Throughout history, people have worn fashion accessories of various kinds. These days, there is a huge variety of items to choose from, including many pieces of intricate and beautiful jewellery.
According to a report in the Financial Times, trends in the world of trinkets are changing. It pointed out that tradition is very important when it comes to jewellery, but added that now things appear to be changing.
The publication referred to a small group of designers, many of whom are based in Paris, who are coming up with alternative ways to wear jewels. These creative individuals are said to be shifting emphasis to different parts of the body and unexpected forms.
For example, Katia Gaydamak, one of two Russian-born sisters behind the jewellery brand Privé, was recently playing around with an oversized bracelet and moved it on to her palm. Her sibling Sonia noted that she moved it so the gem-set design sat on top of the hand, adding: “People stopped us in the street to ask about it.”
Another example of unusual fashion accessories is the Glove Cuff by Lebanese designer Noor Fares. It is jewel for the whole hand, as opposed to just the wrist, and it is inspired by henna tattoos. It comprises pearls and ebony or turquoise beads and is fastened with a diamond-set gold clasp.
Meanwhile, the newspaper also pointed out that so-called ‘double-digit’ rings, or rings that spread out across two fingers, have become almost mainstream in a number of countries.
Thankfully, the level of choice is such these days that consumers should not struggle to find offerings that appeal to them. This variety is partly down to the rise to prominence of the web, as this global resource enables individuals to choose items from firms based around the world and they are thus not restricted to local suppliers.
